In 2001, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government launched Brand Hong Kong (BrandHK) to promote the development of Hong Kong as Asia’s world city. As Hong Kong is ever changing, BrandHK also has to evolve with the times. Accordingly, the Government initiated a public consultation exercise in 2008 to seek the community’s views and to try and create a shared vision of Hong Kong.
As part of this process, a web platform – myhk2020.com – was launched on 28 September until 7 December, 2008, where people expressed their vision in text, photos, drawings and videos. In addition, a music video and lyrics competition known as “Hong Kong 2020 – The Miracle Continues” and a drawing competition entitled “Create Hong Kong 2020” were also organised.
