Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) retained its position as the world’s busiest cargo airport for the 10th consecutive year in 2019, according to Airports Council International. Despite the challenging business environment, the HKIA's strong showing is due largely to its extensive connectivity, high operational standards and successful co-operation with partners. For the year ending May 2020, HKIA handled 4.6 million tonnes of cargo, a drop of 7.7 per cent compared to the previous 12-month period.
