Running in the city! Around 70,000 runners including a quarter from outside Hong Kong participated in Standard Chartered HK Marathon yesterday (Jan 18). A record 42 elite international runners, including World Athletics Gold Label athletes, competed alongside local elites. Bizuneh Melaku Belachew from Ethiopia won the men’s race for the second time, while Bahrain’s Shitaye Eshete H. Habte won the women’s race. The marathon – Hong Kong’s largest participatory sporting event – boosts Hong Kong's position as a major international sports hub.
