The Ceremonial Opening of the Legal Year 2026 was held at Hong Kong City Hall yesterday (Jan 19), marking the start of the new legal year. Highlights of the ceremony included a marching band, inspection of the Ceremonial Guard, and speeches from Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Secretary for Justice, Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association and President of the Law Society of Hong Kong. "The law applies equally to all, without fear or favour,” said Chief Justice Andrew Cheung.

2026年法律年度開啟典禮昨日（1月19日）於香港大會堂舉行，為新一個法律年度揭開序幕。 在檢閱警察儀仗隊等環節後，終審法院首席法官、律政司司長、香港大律師公會主席和香港律師會會長分別在典禮上致辭。終審法院首席法官張舉能表示：「法律平等適用於每個人，無懼無偏。」
