For the 2nd consecutive year, BrandHK proudly presents WRLDCTY, the global forum for urban innovation. While the global COVID-19 pandemic has kept us physically apart, the virtual WRLDCTY Festival unites cities and urban innovators more strongly than ever. Our programme this year highlights the qualities and aspirations of Hong Kong’s urbanity and mobility: Airport City vision, harbourfront experience, new cultural landmarks, entrepreneurial flair, night safaris and exciting opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.
The global pandemic brought air travel to a grinding halt, but it didn’t distract from the visionary infrastructural developments underway in Hong Kong. Airport Authority Hong Kong’s mammoth “Airport City” project is taking shape with a view to securing Hong Kong as the region’s international aviation hub… a Double Gateway to the world and the Greater Bay Area. Game-changing projects outlined in the “Airport City” blueprint, involving investment of over HK$40 billion (US$5.12 billion) and targeting 2030 for completion, will re-define the travel-business-lifestyle relationship in the 21st century. This panel discussion invites experts from various fields to discuss the possibilities/prospects under the “Airport City” vision and how it will take technology, sustainability, economic activity and city living to the next level.
From the world’s largest arts and cultural development, to a world-class harbourfront experience and people-centric smart city, Hong Kong’s urban landscape is being transformed like never before. This panel gathers leading policy- and place-makers,
architects and innovators to discuss the future of smart city living from different perspectives.
