Hong Kong rises as a Muslim-friendly destination!👏 At the annual Halal in Travel Awards on Jun 18, Hong Kong jumped one place to rank second in the Muslim-friendly Destination of the Year category among non-Organisation of Islamic Cooperation destinations. Hong Kong also retained its top spot in Muslim-friendly Accessible Travel Destination (Non-OIC).🌏 HKTB’s “Jelajah Hong Kong” campaign, which targets Southeast Asian Muslim markets, was named Halal Travel Marketing Campaign of the Year. Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee led a joint Hong Kong-Mainland business delegation and concluded the visit to Uzbekistan on June 5 by learning about the latest developments in the digital economy and cultural preservation of the country. He visited IT Park Uzbekistan, an innovation technology park and met with the First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, Ayubkhon Sultonov, on strengthening co-operation between the two places in I&T and the digital economy. He also witnessed the exchange of memorandum of understanding or the confirmation of intention to co-operate between IT Park Uzbekistan and Hong Kong’s three major I&T parks — Cyberport, the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation and the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Park — to enhance co-operation in areas such as startup incubation, talent exchange and joint research and development. Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee led a high-level delegation representatives from Hong Kong and Mainland enterprises on a visit to Uzbekistan (Jun 4) to deepen ties and explore bilateral co-operation.🤝 In Tashkent, Mr Lee met the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov and Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev to discuss ways of enhancing co-operation. Mr Lee and Uzbek Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov witnessed an exchange of notes between the two places on a mutual visa-free arrangement, which would allow a visa-free period of 30 days for visitors from both sides. Mr Lee invited Uzbekistan to stage major conferences and key projects in Hong Kong as Asian chapters or roadshows, while encouraging more young talent from Uzbekistan to study in Hong Kong.
