A new guard against #Omicron! A Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) research team, led by Professor Yeung King-lun, has developed a new coating to kill Omicron variants and prevent germs from sticking to different materials. The transparent substance, called MAP-∞, can last for up to five years and may be applied to metal, concrete, glass, ceramics, artificial stone, wood, LED screens, spectacle lenses and different types of plastic. The application, an upgraded version of MAP-1 developed in 2020, makes viruses and bacteria ineffective while its non-adhesive feature prevents pathogens from colonising a surface. It has been successfully tested in the pipes of a water-treatment installation. https://lnkd.in/eggR8HeH Hong Kong's Multi-pronged Measures to Fight COVID-19: https://lnkd.in/dREj25Ry Photo: The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology #hongkong #brandhongkong #asiasworldcity #TogetherWeFightTheVirus #COVID19 #FightingCOVID19withTechnology
