A radiant jewel of Chinese culture, Cantonese opera is a popular form of entertainment in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. After World War II, performers from Guangzhou went to Hong Kong to develop their skills, leading to the establishment of the Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong, the wave of experience exchange in the 1970s and enrichment of the "Kwangtung grand theatre play". A photo exhibition showing the close historic ties between the two cities, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Chronicles Institute and the Guangdong Provincial Chronicles Office and other institutions, opened simultaneously on December 13, 2021. An online version will be available when the physical show ends on March 13, 2022. #hongkong #brandhongkong #asiasworldcity #cosmopolitanhk #artandculture #ChineseCulture #CantoneseOpera Photo 1: In 1947, the classic "The Romantic Monk", led by the renowned Cantonese opera actor Ho Fei-fan, was performed over 300 times consecutively in Guangzhou and 106 times in Hong Kong.
