Well on track to become an international I&T hub, Hong Kong and the neighbouring cities of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) combine the strengths of the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York Bay Area, Financial Secretary 陳茂波 Paul M.P. Chan told a group of financial leaders in London (Sep 21). As Asia’s green finance leader, "partnering with our GBA high-tech sister cities, we could build a complete financial and industrial chain to drive the world's green transition". He pinpointed the kind of businesses that the city is eager to attract (1) as well as the facilitation measures (2). On the business landscape after the introduction of the National Security Law (NSL), Mr Chan said international investors have continued to place trust in Hong Kong, citing examples of growing bank deposits (3) and stable number of non-local companies (4). A major foreign chamber of commerce in the city also reportedly remarked that, to quote, "the international business community in Hong Kong has not seen any clear cases in which the NSL has been applied to commercial business".
